How To Boost My Website Traffic – Easy To Do Strategies
“How to boost my website traffic” is probably the most common problem of website owners. And with the internet getting more and more crowded, it is really hard to get attention and make your brand or business stand out.
This website has had its fair share of low traffic since it was born. Actually, all websites that are a year older have problems with website traffic. That is because 60% of the sites that belong to Google search ranking are 3 years old and more. So if your website is a bit old, you have a chance of getting ranked on Google.
But that doesn’t mean we will not do anything and let our website get old until Google starts noticing it. That’s not the point.
We need to do some strategies to attract traffic and eventually convert them into potential customers, right?
So to help you generate website traffic, here are some easy but effective ways to help you.
1. Start a blog
Content is still king in 2020 (and will be in the future). Google favours those websites with fresh and valuable content. So whatever industry you are in, make sure to blog about it. Creating and publishing unique, fresh and share-worthy content can help you achieve traffic growth.
Now, if blogging is not something that you are good at. Or you don’t have time to write. There are a lot of bloggers and content writers out there that can help you. Having someone to provide you with fresh and valuable content consistently can help you increase your website traffic. It can also help you build credibility and make you an expert in your industry.
Take note, the more frequent you blog, the more traffic you can get. The recommended blog per month is 11 posts or more. So a dedicated blogger or content writer will be a really great help.

2. Make catchy headlines/titles
No matter how many times you blog, if your blog title is not catchy enough, no one will click and read it. Also, no matter how high your ranking in Google is, if your blog title is lousy, visitors will just scroll down and look for more interesting options.
So when you create a blog, make sure to have a catchy title for it. If you don’t know how to create clickable titles, here are some ideas that can help you get started.
3. Use long-tail keywords
Long-tail keywords are keywords that are more specific and are usually longer. They play an important role in web searches, as users tend to type longer and more specific searches. If you are not using them properly, then you are missing a lot on your SEO efforts. So make sure to use long-tail keywords on your website pages and blogs.

4. Guest blog
One way to increase your web traffic is to distribute your website link to different locations on the internet. And one of the best and legal ways to do this (that you won’t get penalized) is to guest blog.
Scout the internet for reputable sites that accept guest posting and create relevant and targeted content. Usually, these reputable sites have rules when it comes to guest posting. So make sure to follow these rules to avoid getting penalized and for your posts to get approved easily.
It will also help if the guest blog site you found is related to your niche or industry. This way the traffic that you can get on these blog sites are more targeted. Here is a good list of websites to guest blog.
If you have a dedicated blogger or writer, guest posting would be a part of his/her daily/weekly tasks for you. So you don’t have to worry about it.
5. Invite others to guest blog
One way to increase your website exposure is to open your website to other guest bloggers. Inviting someone to write for your website can bring in new readers. Just make sure that you invite trusted writers or experts to your website and only contribute relevant and valuable content. Watch out also for spammy links that are included in the article. Google knows how to track spammy links and can put your website in a compromising situation.
6. Post your content on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is more than just a job search site. It has now become the world’s largest professional social network that is known to publish valuable content. This means, that if you want to increase your website traffic, better to publish content or cross-post your blog/website links here.
7. Use social media
Make sure to cross-promote your website pages and blog posts on all your social media business pages and also on your personal accounts (this is optional). This way you are increasing your exposure by publishing your links on other places on the internet. You can also do this every single time you publish a blog or guest posted a blog on another website.
A social media plan will greatly help you in promoting your website. With a social media plan in place, you can strategically create, plan, and schedule your posts. At Digital Strategists, we use a social media plan template like this, to guide us.
This template covers the whole month of February. We use Google Sheet in this template, which is a good tool as we can collaborate with our team members. On this template, we have the:
- Date – date it will be published
- Content – what kind of content it is
- Interesting Snippet – this is the one you use to post on social media
- Image – type and file location of the image
- Time Posted – time it will be published
As every social media should be treated differently, this template is only for Facebook. And we have another one for Twitter and LinkedIn.
You can also create your own social media plan template. There is no rules in creating one. Just make sure you are comfortable in using it.
8. Use SEO
Before, only experts can do SEO. But today, life is easier. There are tools and plugins that you can use to start on-page SEO on your website. One tool that you can use is Yoast SEO. You may ask your website developer to install it to your website.

Using this, you can check if your web pages or blogs are optimized. If not, the above image is your guide. Just fill out the “Focus Keyphrase” box with your keyword (recommended is long-tail) and Yoast will run an analysis on your content that will show you some issues and recommendations on how to fix it.
9. Interview experts and thought leaders
When you interview experts and thought leaders, you are increasing your chances for website traffic and new visitors as your interviewee will (for sure) share this content to their network. Also when you have experts and thought leaders on your website, you are increasing the credibility of your website. And search engines, as well as visitors, favour websites that have good credibility.
10. Make your website responsive
Most of your website visits will be on mobile. So make sure that your website is mobile responsive. If your visitor searches for your website on his/her mobile and he/she has to pinch and scroll their way around, within seconds, they will leave your website. That’s a bounce rate plus for you. So make sure that your website is viewable and accessible in all kinds of devices.
To test if your website is responsive, just type into Google search bar “mobile responsive tester” and this will show in the first page of result. Paste your website link and click the run test button.
