How To Increase Your LinkedIn Page Followers – Practical techniques and tips

LinkedIn is one of the most powerful social media networks today, especially for professionals and business/company owners. With over 500 million global users that continue to grow, you can connect with individuals, professionals, or companies around the globe that can be beneficial to your career or business.

LinkedIn is one of the main social media we introduce to some of our clients. This is because LinkedIn is a powerful tool in finding your next customer/client online. This is very true to us. Some of our clients found us by contacting our LinkedIn page.

That is if you know the right strategies to promote your LinkedIn page so it is visible to everyone, especially to your target audience.

But how do you do that?

How do you promote your LinkedIn page?

What are the strategies that you need to do to increase your LinkedIn page followers?

Here are some effective strategies that we used:

1. Engage your employees and your whole team

Ask your employees to add your LinkedIn page as their employer. After that, ensure that your employee tagged the right page. Because when your employee makes a new connection, LinkedIn will prompt this new connection to follow the page.

Also, ask your employees to support your page by sharing some of your posts, articles or updates on their network. When your LinkedIn page gets tags and updates from your employees, it increases its chance of getting viewed and followed by other people.

2. Don’t forget to add a follow button on your website

Add a LinkedIn follow button on your website. This way, your website visitors can easily access and follow your page once they see it on your website. Visit this link on how to do it. The image below is how it will be shown on your website.

3. Include your LinkedIn page on your email signature

Make your LinkedIn page accessible even in your email signature. Some of your correspondents may take an interest in your page and this way, they can easily click your link and be directed to your page. Like this one. The social media icons below my photo are all linked to our business pages.

4. Add it to your personal LinkedIn profile

It is also good to put your LinkedIn page link on your personal profile. This way, anyone who visits your profile has the chance to see your link and click it. You may do this by adding a short link on the “Website URL” field (if you don’t have yet a website to put here) or you can directly include it on your profile headline like this one.

5. Be consistent in posting

Update your page with fresh posts every now and then. Keeping a steady stream of fresh and relevant posts on your page will increase its visibility on member feeds. And also, pages that post at least once a week see an increase in their engagement, which results in greater organic reach.

If you want to manage your posts effectively, you can use Buffer to schedule your LinkedIn posts. This tool is free unlike Hootsuite, Sprout Social and other social media scheduling platforms.

6. Be active in joining conversations

Look for three to five relevant hashtags in your posts. Check out what other people are discussing about under those hashtags. Comment, react and share your expertise on the topic. This will expose your brand name to new but relevant audiences.

7. Tag and mention people and companies

Another way to increase your page reach and follows is mentioning some influential people and companies (that is not your competitor) in your LinkedIn posts. By @mentioning them, you get a chance to be in front or be part of their network. If you get lucky, the people or company you mentioned may even reshare your posts to their followers. However, just make sure you don’t overdo this strategy. Tagging or mentioning someone over and over is spammy and annoying.

One good example is this one, I recently reshare a post from one of the managers of Optimum Consulting (a recruitment and consultancy firm in Brisbane, Australia) congratulating them for the new website they have.

8. Share videos and visual content

Mix your post with eye-catching visuals and engaging videos when posting on LinkedIn. These kinds of content tend to stand out more on feeds. And when your post stands out, your LinkedIn page gets more changes of visit and follows.

If you need help in creating eye-catching visuals, we highly recommend Canva. Canva is a designing platform that allows you to create different kinds of visuals from social media posts to brochures and presentations. It is very easy to use. You don’t have to be a designer to design a good visual. You can use their existing and readily available templates. And once you’re done, you can simply hit the download button.

When it comes to video, we recommend using Biteable. Just like Canva, this video creation platform is easy to use. You don’t have to be a video editor to create videos. You can use their readily available templates. You can also easily download your edited videos but it has a watermark. For watermark-free videos, you have to upgrade your account to premium.

9. Join LinkedIn Groups

Look for LinkedIn groups that are connected to your industry. Join and participate in their discussions. You can also share your pages and some of your posts here. However, don’t overdo it. You will look spammy and the administrator of the group may kick you off. Use LinkedIn groups moderately.

10. Encourage engagements in your post

When creating a LinkedIn post, make sure you include a call-to-action. This call-to-action can be a question, an opinion, an answer, anything that can prompt them to hit and type in your comment box or to click the like icon. Once you are able to create a completing post that made everyone comment, it can have viral benefits.

11. Message connections to visit and like your page

One way to promote your page is by sending personal messages to your connections. When you made a new connection, thank them for connecting with you. And in addition to that, ask them if they are interested in checking out your LinkedIn page. It is a good way of establishing rapport with your new connections as well as increasing your following.

These are just some of the many strategies that you can do to increase your LinkedIn page followers. It is not an easy job and it entails a lot of work especially if you are using organic techniques like what we discussed above. But it can be effective if done properly.

Our suggestion is to set a target number of follows a month so you know if you are making progress.
